disney world resort question?
hi guys, i was just getting ready to book my hotel in disney world for january and we're staying in the all stars movie resort. One of the options is called "Preferred room" and that says it comes with the package, but then there is an option for the "standard room" that is -$67.00 off the price. They both have the same options, so i'm just wondering what the difference is? if there is no difference i might as well do standard. thanks in advance!!

- From what I have read, being in a "Preferred" room at a Value Resort means you are going to be closer to the bus line and/or food court. Have fun!
- the more expensive roon is about 200 square foot bigger
- for the extra price it's not worth it. get a standard room and get the dining plan!!! It is worth the money!! We had a standard room and were just as close to the pool and bus. If you have any other ?s let me know!
- I stayed at pop century last year (also a value resort) and we asked for a room close to the bus stop and the food court. They didn't charge extra so if it comes with it, get it. Our walk was literally a minute walk to the food court so you'll save time if you want to stay close to a certain area.
- The difference is miles or what feels like miles of walking. This resort is huge, and preferred is located closer to the bus line and cafe. Well worth the cost.
- hi, i stayed at the All Star Movies too. The preferred location means that it is closer to the lobby building. I always pick standard location because it is less money and i dont mind the walk. When we stayed there we were over by the Mighty Ducks and so it was not all too far. I would go with standard. Even at POP century which is the best value resort because its MUCH easier to get back there from the theme parks (for movies you wait in line with the other all stars like music and sports, and then after in line forever, the driver says no, movies has to wait for another bus that just says movies on it.... POP's got its own line at the theme parks/waterparks/downtown, etc. so when the bus comes you know you CAN get on it. Also, the other all stars drops people off at the Music resort, and the Sports resort, and Movies is the last stop, which again takes more travel time. I also got standard location at POP and were pretty close! The really close rooms are also right next to the pool-which people and kids use all hours of the night. Best to get a little farther away if you like it quiet. Have fun!!!
- The main (pretty much only) difference between a standard and preferred room is its distance to various things at the resort. All-Star Movies isn't huge, so it isn't too big of a deal in my opinion. I've stayed there several times in "standard" rooms and each time (aside from once) we were put in the Love Bug area, which wasn't too bad of a walk. The preferred rooms have shorter walking distances to the main building (food court, arcade, buses, etc.) and generally the main pool of the resort. At some resorts like Pop Century (its HUGE), i'd advise trying to get a closer room, as there is a really long walk from the main building to the 90's section (where they generally put you if you get a special offer). You're staying at All-Star Movies though, so you should be ok :)
- preferred rooms means you will be more colser to the food court or bus stop.
- I'd go for standard. Once you get there to check in, you can request a certain building (I recommend Buzz Lightyear or Woody - they're close to the food court and to the main pool). You may not get your request, but most of the time you do. Good luck!
- Choose the standard room. The rooms are exaclty the same, you will pay for the location. The hotel is nice, none of the rooms are far from the bus, cafeteria, pool locations.
